The A Team Project

Chippy Chat

A referral written as a conversation, not a blank text box.

Writing a good reference is hard, so Chippy, the A Team’s bird, interviews you about the person you want in your Top 8. One question at a time, it follows the thread you give it, notices themes as they come up, and then drafts the referral in your own voice for you to edit before anything is sent.

Chippy Chat on desktop: Chippy asks about a moment when Maya’s impact mattered, the member’s answer appears in a bubble, and the “What I’m hearing” rail shows the theme “Spots the pattern others miss”.
Conversation: a follow-up question, and the first theme in the rail.
The review step on desktop: an editable referral draft with a character counter beside the themes that came through.
Review: the draft, written in the member’s voice, ready to edit.
Chippy Chat on a phone: after a follow-up, Chippy marks a new subject and asks how Maya handles disagreement, with the next answer in the composer.
The same conversation on a phone.

How it flows.

  1. Details: who you’re referring and the company you worked at together, picked straight from your résumé or added on the spot.
  2. Conversation: Chippy opens with one question. Each new question is either a follow-up on what you just said or a clearly marked new subject.
  3. A side rail, “What I’m hearing”, collects up to four themes as they surface, and ends with “Anything missing? Keep telling me.”
  4. Review: the draft lands in an editable field next to the themes that came through, with a live 200–2,000 character counter.
  5. Sent: nothing is saved or emailed until this step, then you can add another referral or head back to your Top 8.

The small decisions.

Only the newest line moves

Motion is reserved for Chippy’s latest response, so the active question is obvious and the history stays calm.

Rainbow Signal progress

A single-row 01 Details · 02 Conversation · 03 Review · 04 Sent header, picked from several navigation directions, that compacts cleanly on phones.

Honest waiting and errors

Your answer shows as a faded bubble with “Chippy is listening…” while it sends. If something fails, the answer stays in the composer and the message says whether it was a rate limit, a busy model or something else.

A gallery for every state

Every stage renders in an internal Feature Gallery with sample data, at desktop, tablet and phone sizes, with its error variants and a scripted play-through.
